ASTC Professional Trainer Designation Framework

The ASTC Professional Trainer Designation Framework recognizes trainers, facilitators, learning professionals, and training consultants based on their competency, professional experience, learning impact, and contribution to the training profession.

The framework provides structured pathways for professional recognition and global credibility in training, facilitation, learning design, and workforce capability development.

ASTC Associate Professional Trainer (ASTC-APT)

Designed for emerging trainers and early-career learning professionals who are beginning their professional journey in training, facilitation, and learning delivery.

This designation recognizes foundational competency, commitment to professional development, and active involvement in training-related activities.

Education Criteria

Diploma, degree, or professional certification or long-term training in:

  • Training & Development
  • Human Resources
  • Education
  • Coaching

Professional Experience

Minimum 2 year of practical experience


Practice Evidence

At least 60 hours training delivery record in last year

Application Documents

  • Profile & Identity Document (Passport/National ID Card/ Driving License)
  • Copy of academic/ professional certification
  • Record of last trainings
  • Proof of experience (LinkedIn profile is also acceptable)

Alternative Route (RPC)

Applicants holding recognized external certifications in training, facilitation, or adult learning may qualify through ASTC’s Recognition of Prior Certification route.

ASTC may request supporting evidence or competency mapping documentation.

Examples may include:

Train-the-Trainer certifications, Corporate trainer certifications, Teaching or facilitation credentials, Internal company trainer Certification

ASTC Professional Trainer (ASTC-PT)

Recognizes experienced training professionals who independently deliver training programs, facilitate learning interventions, and contribute to workforce capability development.

This designation validates practical competency, instructional capability, and professional training experience

Education Requirement

Degree, diploma, or recognized certification in any of the following:

  • Training & Development, HRM / L&D
  • Education / Business
  • Leadership Development
  • Related discipline 

Professional Experience

Minimum 8 years in:

  • Corporate training, Facilitation , Learning & development
  • Technical or vocational training
  • Professional skills development

Practice Evidence

At least 100 hours training delivery record in last year

Alternative Route (RPC)

Applicants holding recognized professional trainer certifications may qualify through the RPC pathway.

ASTC may conduct competency review or interview where necessary.

Examples include:

International trainer certifications, Accredited Train-the-Trainer qualifications, Professional facilitation credentials

ASTC Master Trainer (AMT)

Recognizes highly experienced trainers with advanced expertise in facilitation, instructional design, strategic learning interventions, and professional leadership.

This designation reflects mastery-level capability and significant industry contribution.

Applicants should meet ALL of the following:

Education / Professional Qualification

At least ONE:

  • Advanced certification in training/facilitation
  • Degree or postgraduate qualification
  • Recognized professional learning credentials

Experience

Minimum 15 years of professional training experience.

Including experience in:

  • Leading major learning initiatives
  • Designing training systems or academies
  • Managing training teams or functions
  • Delivering executive or advanced-level training

Practice Evidence

Applicants should provide evidence such as:

  • At least 100 hours training delivery record in last year
  • Comprehensive training portfolio
  • Curriculum or competency frameworks developed
  • Learning impact reports
  • Masterclass delivery evidence
  • Publications, speaking, or thought leadership
  • Strategic learning project evidence

RPC Route

Professionals holding senior-level trainer designations or internationally recognized master trainer certifications may qualify through the RPC route.

ASTC may require:

Competency mapping Portfolio review Professional interview Industry references

ASTC Training Consultant (ATC)

Recognizes professionals who provide strategic training, workforce capability, learning transformation, and performance consulting services to organizations.

This designation emphasizes consulting capability beyond training delivery.

Education / Qualifications

At least one Degree, postgraduate qualification, or professional certification in:

  • Learning & Development / HRM / Organizational Development
  • Business Strategy / Training & Facilitation
  • Consulting or related fields

Professional Experience

Minimum 20 years of professional experience in.

  • Learning consulting, Organizational capability development
  • Leadership development, Workforce transformation, Talent development consulting
  • Performance improvement initiatives

Practice Evidence

  • Must have experience as L&D consultant for at least 3 companies in last 2 years
  • Consulting project reports
  • Capability development frameworks
  • Training strategy documents
  • Client references/testimonials
  • Learning needs analysis reports
  • Organizational development interventions

Alternative Route – Recognition of Prior Certification (RPC)

Applicants holding recognized consulting or advanced training certifications may qualify through RPC.
