The American Society for Trainers and Coaches (ASTC) offers structured membership categories designed to recognize professional growth, competence, leadership contribution, and industry impact in the fields of training, coaching, learning and development, leadership facilitation, and organizational capability development.
Membership levels are awarded based on professional experience, qualifications, competencies, ethical commitment, and contribution to the profession.
ASTC Associate Member (AMASTC)
Designed for emerging professionals, aspiring trainers/coaches, and individuals entering the learning and development profession.
Early Career
Purpose
The Associate Member category is designed for emerging professionals, early-career practitioners, aspiring trainers/coaches, and individuals entering the learning and development profession.
Academic / Learning Qualification
Diploma, degree, certification, or professional training in:
- Training & Development
- Coaching
- Education
Alternative Entry
Having any certification in the area of Training, Education or Coaching awarded by Govt or any other recognized institutes/professional body.
Professional Exposure
Minimum 2 years of involvement in:
- Training delivery
- Coaching support
- Facilitation
- Teaching
- HR/L&D support role
- Instructional assistance
Additional Requirements
ASTC Professional Member (PMASTC)
Recognizes qualified professionals actively practicing in training, coaching, facilitation, learning, consulting, or organizational development roles.
Experienced Practitioner
Professional Experience
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in one or more areas:
- Corporate training
- Coaching or mentoring
- Facilitation
- Learning & development
- Leadership development
- Instructional design
- Organizational capability building
Professional Practice
Evidence of active involvement in:
- Delivering training/coaching sessions
- Designing learning programs
- Managing learning initiatives
- Supporting organizational development
Qualification Requirement
At least ONE of the following:
- Recognized professional certification
- Degree or diploma in related field
- ASTC-recognized competency evidence
Additional Requirements
ASTC Senior Professional Member (SPMASTC)
Recognizes experienced professionals with advanced expertise, leadership exposure, strategic contribution, and significant professional practice.
Advanced Strategic Professional
Professional Experience
Minimum 12 years of professional experience in:
- Training and facilitation
- Executive coaching
- Organizational learning
- Leadership development
- Talent development
- Consulting or workforce development
Leadership & Strategic Contribution
Evidence of one or more:
- Leading major learning initiatives
- Managing training departments or academies
- Developing competency frameworks
- Designing strategic workforce programs
- Coaching senior leaders or executives
- Speaking, publishing, or industry contribution
Professional Achievement
At least ONE of the following:
- Senior professional certification
- Significant organizational contribution
- Recognized industry achievement
- ASTC competency assessment approval

ASTC Fellow Member (FASTC)
Represents the highest honorary level of recognition awarded by ASTC to distinguished professionals who have made exceptional contributions to the profession, industry, research, leadership, or the ASTC community.
Fellowship is honorary and recognition-based.
